Serving emerging markets
As well as contributing to widespread ocean observations for science and regulatory agencies, GROOM II aims to design a sustainable European Marine Research Infrastructure (MRI) focused on marine robotics which will also serve emerging markets and well-established industries: the Glider European Reasearch Infrastructure (GERI)
While continuing to collect essential marine data for commercial purposes, GROOM II project partners are developing bespoke innovative services for the private sector.
Currently, the consortium is a part of a vast and growing network of marine robotics researchers and users as well as marine sensor and platform manufacturers advancing the European Blue Economy. Our network is also exploring the possibilities of providing new marine robotic services for commercial applications. The wide range of services and applications include:
- Subsea infrastructure inspection of pipelines and power transmission cables
- Monitoring marine ecosystem health for fisheries management
- Water quality measurements during offshore observations
- Marine environmental emergency response
- Maritime and shipping management
- Maritime border security
- Offshore marine surveys
- Deep seabed mining
If you have a particular marine or maritime commercial application that you would like our MRI to address, let us connect to better understand your needs!
